General Election Information

Lumberton Municipal Utility District

House Bill 305 Election Disclosure: The following information related to the District’s elections for members of the Board of Directors are being posted by the District pursuant to Section 2051.152 of the Texas Government Code (enacted by House Bill 305 during the 2019 Texas Legislative Session)

The Administrative Assistant is the Election Officer for Lumberton Municipal Utility District of Hardin County, Texas. District elections are held on the first Saturday in May of each even numbered year.

Lumberton Municipal Utility District is composed of 5 members who serve four-year terms.

Elected Officers and Year elected Officer’s Term Expires

• Nicholas N. Carter – President – Director Seat #3 – 2026

• Roger G. Smith  - Vice President – Director Seat #2 – 2028

• David C. Pitchford – Secretary – Director Seat #1 – 2026

• James B. Burk – Director Seat #5 – 2026

• David L. Desormeaux – Director Seat #4 – 2028

Qualifications

No person's name shall be placed on the ballot unless he or she is at least eighteen (18) years of age, a citizen of the United States, a resident of the State of Texas, either owns land subject to taxation in the District or is a qualified voter within the District, has filed a loyalty affidavit with the Secretary of the Board of Directors, and otherwise satisfies the qualifications for holding a public office contained in the Texas Election Code.  No person who is disqualified by the laws of the State of Texas from serving as a director of this District shall have his or her name placed on the ballot.  The Board of Directors of the District is authorized to determine the qualifications of candidates for office.  If the Board of Directors determines that an applicant is not qualified, it shall give written notice to the applicant of the reason for the rejection.  Blank applications, loyalty affidavits, and copies of the Resolution may be obtained from the Secretary of the Board of Directors of the District, 625 FM 421 or P.O. Box 8065, Lumberton, Texas 77657, (409) 755-1559.

The first day to file for a place on the ballot had not been posted by the state at the time of this posting.  The Administrative Assistant will begin accepting applications at the above-mentioned places on the dates to be announced later by the state. Historically, filing dates run from mid-January to mid-February of the election year. The Administrative Assistant will receive applications at this location during the business week, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. There is no filing fee.

Divulgación de elecciones del Proyecto de Ley 305 de la Cámara de Representantes: La siguiente información relacionada con las elecciones del Distrito para miembros de la Junta Directiva está siendo publicada por el Distrito de conformidad con la Sección 2051.152 del Código de Gobierno de Texas (promulgada por el Proyecto de Ley de la Cámara 305 durante la Sesión Legislativa de Texas de 2019)

El Asistente Administrativo es el Oficial de Elecciones para el Distrito Municipal de Servicios Públicos de Lumberton del Condado de Hardin, Texas. Las elecciones de distrito se celebran el primer sábado de mayo de cada año par. Las próximas elecciones se celebrarán el 5 de mayo de 2024

El Distrito Municipal de Servicios Públicos de Lumberton está compuesto por 5 miembros que sirven términos de cuatro años.

Calificaciones

El nombre de ninguna persona se colocará en la boleta electoral a menos que tenga al menos dieciocho (18) años de edad, sea ciudadano de los Estados Unidos, residente del Estado de Texas, posea tierras sujetas a impuestos en el Distrito o sea un votante calificado dentro del Distrito, haya presentado una declaración jurada de lealtad ante el Secretario de la Junta Directiva,  y de otra manera satisface los requisitos para ocupar un cargo público contenidos en el Código Electoral de Texas.  Ninguna persona que esté descalificada por las leyes del Estado de Texas para servir como director de este Distrito tendrá su nombre colocado en la boleta electoral.  La Junta Directiva del Distrito está autorizada para determinar las calificaciones de los candidatos para el cargo.  Si la Junta Directiva determina que un solicitante no está calificado, notificará por escrito al solicitante el motivo del rechazo.  Las solicitudes en blanco, las declaraciones juradas de lealtad y las copias de la Resolución se pueden obtener del Secretario de la Junta Directiva del Distrito, 625 FM 421 o P.O. Box 8065, Lumberton, Texas 77657, (409) 755-1559.

El primer día para solicitar un lugar en la boleta electoral no había sido publicado por el estado en el momento de esta publicación.  El Asistente Administrativo comenzará a aceptar solicitudes en los lugares mencionados anteriormente en las fechas que se anunciarán más adelante por el estado. Históricamente, las fechas de presentación van desde mediados de enero hasta mediados de febrero del año electoral. El Asistente Administrativo recibirá solicitudes en este lugar durante la semana laboral, de 8 a.m. a 5 p.m. De lunes a viernes. No hay tarifa de presentación.
